Technical Documentation Specialist

At Yarra Trams, we’re proud to keep Melbourne moving. We’re looking for a Technical Documentation Specialist to join our Engineering Standards and Systems team and help shape the future of safe, reliable tram operations.

 

 

Your Role

 

As a Technical Documentation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our technical documents and processes are current, accessible, and maintained to the highest quality. You will:

 

  • Prepare and manage technical documents, including standards, specifications, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Coordinate workflows and reporting for the Engineering Management System.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts across Engineering, Asset, Maintenance, and Projects to ensure documentation meets compliance and quality standards.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Develop, update, and maintain technical documents under the guidance of the Head of Engineering Standards and Systems.
  • Ensure technical documents follow established formatting and style guides.
  • Manage configuration control and status accounting using approved tools.
  • Coordinate Engineering Management System actions and workflows (e.g., Engineering Change, Waivers, Concessions, Type Approvals).
  • Act as the primary contact for standards and engineering change queries.
  • Prepare reports and perform administrative tasks, including meeting coordination and action tracking.

 

 

What We’re Looking For

 

  • Degree or qualifications in Engineering/Technology (preferred), Communications, or Policy .
  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing and documentation.
  • Strong English language writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as transport or similar.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise documentation.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Professional.
