Supervisor Rolling Stock Projects
Role Purpose
About this opportunity
Yarra Trams requires a Supervisor FA3 Rolling Stock Projects to support the implementation of the various Rolling Stock projects packages of work and manage & coach trade staff in the delivery of the works. Reporting to the Depot Operation Manager, Rolling Stock Projects and based at East Preston this role will perform the following:
- Provide input to designs, drawings; technical documentation and testing procedures for the projects
- Ensure components installed onto the tram meet the Work instruction & SOW expectations
- Have strong focus on service quality and results including both safety and stakeholder engagement
- Support documentation development and ensure handover & maintenance training is fully applied to all key activities
- Optimise build aspects of the projects and propose efficient design and solutions
- Give input in Risk Assessments for all significant activities for the project
- Ensure compliance with OH&S rules – and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for the project
- Participate in Investigations into all incidents that pertain to the activities of the Project, OH&S action plans and training
- Monitor tasks to ensure they are performed according to standards, ensuring Safety on the network and Quality of the work performed
- Ensure that project areas are well organised, clean, and tidy; ensure that all Equipment is fit for purpose, and in a calibrated where required
- Give input in Risk Assessments for all significant activities for the project
- Support the preparation and delivery of any safety documentation (i.e. SWMs) that is needed for work instructions or risk assessments
About you
Ideally you will have:
- Successfully completed an apprenticeship in a relevant trade.
- The incumbent performs a wide range of skills that fit mainly within the Electrical / Mechanical trades or Metal Fabricator qualifications.
- Understanding and adherence to applicable quality procedures, work and operating instructions and other documentation defining the production, maintenance and servicing functions is a mandatory requirement.
- Display a knowledge and commitment to Quality Assurance, Rail Safety, OH&S and Environmental Standards and principles as they apply to the Depots.
- High level of literacy and an ability to prepare formal reports including emergency and incident reports and to work with computers. The position will be expected to understand parts procurement and time keeping systems (i.e. Maximo)
- Possess a sound understanding of relevant Operational Rules and Procedures, Personnel Policies and Practices, Awards, Transport Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Act and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to deal with discrimination, harassment and workplace bullying issues.
- Possess the necessary skills to provide input to accident and/or incident investigations.
- Effective written and verbal communication and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to handle several activities at the same time and ensure timeframes are met.
- Proven skills in planning, organising, and prioritising work.
- Must be prepared to work shift work, including weekends and public holidays if required.
