Senior Advisor, Risk

About this opportunity

 

Yarra Trams requires a Senior Adisor, Risk within our Safety Function to drive the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of Risk Management across Yarra Trams including compliance with regulatory requirements relating to Rail Safety Legislation. Reporting to Manager, Risk in the Health Safety and Sustainability Directorate, this role involves:

 

  • Developing business function safety studies including comprehensive hazard identification, deep dive risk review analysis, bow tie analysis, review of control measure effectiveness and establishment of active control measure performance monitoring programs.
  • Developing risk profile reports for senior management and executive directors including control improvements and actions.
  • Supporting Enterprise Risk Management particularly having regard to critical control development and evaluation.
  • Developing and improving key SMS processes across Yarra Trams relevant to the Risk management process and Management of Change process.
  • Preparing SMS gap assessments and develop gap closure plans to Risk Management.
  • Supporting development and implementation of appropriate governance structures to improve monitoring of and compliance of Risk Management.
  • Advising line management on practical application of risk management requirements.
  • Providing specific and detailed risk engineering support to the business as required this may include design advice, hazard assessment and studies.
  • Facilitating / Participating in Risk Workshops.
  • Leading training session on Risk Management and Yarra Trams Enterprise Risk Manual.
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing risk maturity across the business.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring risk coordinators.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement in the Risk Management System and tools.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Manager – Risk to support the Health Safety and Sustainability function to meet objectives.

 

About you


Ideally you will have:

 

  • Formal qualifications in risk management, safety, or related discipline, and/or significant proven experience relevant to this discipline. 
  • Highly developed understanding of what constitutes true best in industry performance and operational excellence
  • A minimum 5 years in a similar risk role in rail or another highly regulated fields such as aviation, mining, oil & gas or similar environment.
  • Extensive experience in analysing data to evaluate risk profile to the business. 
  • Expertise in Rail management principles. 
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management and risk management systems and architecture. 
  • Experienced in facilitating risk workshops and competent in risk assessment methodologies. 
  • Experience within a safety and risk management environment preferred.
  • Experience in working with and maintaining a good working relationship with internal / external business partners including external vendors.
  • Proven experience of operating in an SMS environment.
  • Experience in providing training and support to internal business partners. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation (OHS / Rail Safety) and standards (ISO31000).
