Security Authorised Officers
About this opportunity
We are looking for people who are passionate about community safety and engagement to join our Network Security Team (NST).
The NST has been established to:
- Increase the safety, security and welfare for our people and our customers
- Respond to antisocial behaviour on the tram network through prevention, intervention and mitigation.
- Be a visual presence of authority on the network which demonstrates YT commitment to safety and gives assurance to our passengers and employees
- Generate high-level of engagement with our frontline employees, customers, and broader community
As a Network Security Authorised Officer, you will:
- Proactively engage with the public, passengers, and Yarra Trams employees to provide confidence and support to ensure safety on the Tram Network.
- Attend locations throughout the Yarra Trams network to deter anti-social and criminal behaviour and provide public confidence.
- Attend security incidents on the network and apply learnt command and control practices, including non-violent conflict intervention and resolution.
- Identify and accurately report criminal, security, and anti-social behavioural incidents and concerns.
- Work in a team environment with Yarra Trams management and Victoria Police in crime prevention and social tasking actions.
- Work on a rotational roster and maintain close liaison with the Security Controller inside the Unified Operations Centre.
- Apply and demonstrate the values of Yarra Trams to contribute towards creating safe, inclusive and friendly journeys for our passengers.
About you
Ideally you will have:
- A level of physical fitness that’s in accord with the requirements of the role (Mandatory).
- Self control and the ability to remain calm under pressure (Mandatory).
- Excellent situational awareness and judgement.
- Outstanding time management skills.
- A high level of personal integrity, the ability to uphold discretion and confidentiality standards.
- The ability to thrive in a team environment and to also function individually.
- A commitment to public and passenger engagement and assistance.
- The ability to complete ‘Authorised Officer’ and specialist training (Mandetory).
- Proficiency in the use of communications technology, computers, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A current Victorian Open Drivers licence.
