Project Manager, Renewals- Structures and Facilities

Role Purpose


At Yarra Trams, we’re proud to operate a world-class tram network that keeps Melbourne moving. As a Project Engineer – Renewals, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Project Manager to deliver essential maintenance and renewal works across the network. Your contribution will help ensure we meet our commitments under the Annual Works Plan and deliver safe, high-quality infrastructure upgrades.

 

You will:

 

  • Lead small to medium multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across LY1 to LY13.
  • Support the delivery of contractual obligations with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Assist in planning, scoping, and scheduling works in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager.
  • Manage resources including contractors, consultants, and internal delivery teams.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure KPIs are met and works are delivered on time.
  • Foster a safety-first culture across all project environments.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Developing project scopes, budgets, and schedules in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager.
  • Overseeing the full lifecycle of renewal projects, from scoping to delivery.
  • Conducting safety and quality reviews to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Coordinating works occupations, permits, and approvals with relevant stakeholders.
  • Leading design development and ensuring construction aligns with approved plans.
  • Managing project budgets and providing accurate forecasts and reporting.
  • Building strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and external partners.

 

 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • A degree in Civil Engineering and membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering or transport infrastructure environments.
  • Sound knowledge of public and private sector contracting arrangements.

 

 

Experience & Knowledge

 

We’re looking for someone who has:

 

  • Proven project management experience delivering multidisciplinary projects over $1M.
  • Strong technical expertise in track renewal, fabrication, and civil works.
  • Experience in tendering, bid evaluation, and contractor selection.
  • Knowledge of OHS&E legislation and risk management practices.
  • Leadership experience managing project teams and contractors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours, including weekends and on-call as required.
