About this opportunity
Yarra Trams requires a Program Director to provide leadership in the delivery of a portfolio of projects that will transform Melbourne’s tram network. Reporting to the Chief Infrastructure and Projects Officer this role involves:
- Providing visible leadership in the delivery of a portfolio of projects to transform the tram network, including enhancing its safety, functionality, accessibility, and passenger experience.
- Demonstrating excellence in project and people leadership, being the figurehead representing Yarra Trams project delivery capability at industry engagements whilst continuously building the capability of the team and demonstrating Yarra Trams’ values, including Ways of Working and Safety-First leadership; and
- Driving collaboration and direct engagement across YT business units and with Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), delivering within the Yarra Trams Safety Management System, Project Management Framework, and the Franchise Agreement.
About you
Ideally you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management
- Certified Project Director via AIPM or equivalent professional certification would be desirable.
- Proven experience and leadership of large and complex projects from project initiation to delivery and handover to the client.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of OHS&E legislative requirements and individual duty of care and of the Rail Safety Act and associated Regulations.
- Understanding of the principles of business development and the interplay between contracts, operations, and commercial outcomes.
- Experience in contractual negotiations and management at a senior managerial level and commercial dealing with Government at senior level.
- Experience in managing risk and quality, including demonstrable expertise in Engineering Assurance and Project Completions.
- Proven high level experience and knowledge of program and project management processes, methodologies, standards, and templates, including the selection and use of project delivery methods that ensure that projects are delivered within time and cost parameters.
