Investigator
About this opportunity
Yarra Trams requires a Investigator to work within the investigation function and conduct comprehensive investigations into incidents, accidents, and safety-related issues on the Yarra Tram network. Reporting to the Senior, Investigator, this role involves:
- Leading and conducting complex investigations into incidents, accidents, and safety-related issues, ensuring thoroughness, impartiality, and timeliness.
- Identifying root causes of incidents and developing recommendations for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, and safety teams, to gather information and support investigation efforts.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry partners, and emergency services.
- Preparing and presenting investigation reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Supporting the development and implementation of safety improvements, including changes to procedures, training, and equipment.
- Staying up to date with industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to incident investigation and safety management.
About you
Ideally you will have:
- Qualifications in ICAM Lead Investigation
- Minimum 2 years' experience in incident investigation, safety management, or a related field, preferably in the rail industry.
- Proven experience in leading and conducting investigations, including identifying root causes and developing corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of safety management principles, incident investigation methodologies, and relevant regulations and standards (e.g., Safety Management System (SMS) requirements).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to respond to incidents on-site, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team., and communication skills.
- Demonstrated professional experience in applying Human Factors within, or as a consultant to,
- organisations operating in complex, safety critical operational environments
- Ability to respond to arising issues, work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills and possess a high level of interpersonal, negotiating, counselling and diplomacy skills.
