We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Facilities and Network Maintenance to lead the facilities, cleaning, presentation and network maintenance outcomes that shape how passengers experience Melbourne’s tram network every day. This is a pivotal senior leadership role with the opportunity to drive asset performance, strengthen commercial and State partnerships, and build a data-driven approach to safe, reliable and sustainable infrastructure. If you thrive in a complex, regulated environment and want to make a visible impact across the world’s largest tram network, this could be your next stop!
About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure, this role will:
- Lead the strategy, governance and end-to-end delivery of Yarra Trams’ facilities, cleaning, presentation and network maintenance portfolio
- Own and deliver the facilities and network components of the Franchise Infrastructure Management Plan and Annual Infrastructure Works Plan
- Drive safe, reliable and sustainable asset performance across depots, workshops, network buildings, plant, equipment and fleet vehicles
- Lead commercial performance and contract governance for facilities, maintenance and cleaning service providers, ensuring franchise KPIs and passenger experience benchmarks are achieved
- Represent Yarra Trams with the State, DTP, VicTrack and key partners on facilities and network maintenance priorities, performance and compliance
- Develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team and embed data-driven decision-making, predictive intervention and continuous improvement across the portfolio
About You:
This role will suit an experienced senior leader from rail, transport or another complex, asset-intensive and highly regulated operating environment who can bring:
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience across facilities, cleaning, presentation, maintenance or asset management portfolios.
- A strong safety mindset, with experience managing critical risks and meeting rail safety, workplace health and safety, environmental and regulatory obligations.
- Proven commercial and contract management capability, including oversight of complex service providers, performance-based contracts, budgets and value-for-money outcomes.
- Strategic stakeholder leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with government, regulators, contractors and internal partners.
- Strong financial and asset management experience, including lifecycle planning, renewals, structural defect management, productivity and procurement strategy.
- The ability to lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams, supported by clear executive communication, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset.
