Completions and Handover Lead

Role Purpose


The Completions and Handover Lead is responsible for supporting internal project teams to ensure that assets and systems delivered though rail infrastructure projects are accepted into operations in a condition that is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. Sitting alongside the Project Management Office (PMO) this role provides advise, tools and oversight to ensure each project team has the guidance and governance required to meet YT asset acceptance, assurance and operational readiness standards. The role ensures that all deliverables including completions documentation and internal stakeholder approvals are properly coordinated and completed inline with business needs and regulatory obligations. It plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless and consistent transition from project delivery into day-to-day rail operations.


Responsibilities

 

  • Provide subject matter expertise on completions and handover requirements, processes, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized Completions and Handover Framework aligned with internal systems and external requirements.
  • Guide project teams in planning, sequencing, and executing handover activities, including documentation and asset acceptance.
  • Coordinate and monitor handover milestones across projects to ensure alignment with program schedules.
  • Review and validate project completions documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Support integration of new assets into asset management systems in collaboration with engineering, asset management and maintenance teams.
  • Contribute readiness forums, manage handover risks, report progress to stakeholders, and provide post-handover support.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Asset Management, or a related field  
  • Training or certification in Systems Engineering, Completions Management, or ISO Quality Standards (desirable) 
  • Familiarity with asset and document management systems (Maximo, Aconex, TeamBinder

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure project delivery or completions roles, preferably in rail, transport, or regulated industries 
  • Experience working within or alongside a PMO, providing governance, frameworks, and structured project support 
  • Strong understanding of asset handover and operational readiness requirements in a rail or infrastructure context 
  • Familiarity with completions deliverables, asset acceptance criteria, and contractor interfaces 
  • Working knowledge of how asset information is structured and managed for long-term maintenance and compliance 
  • Proven ability to work across disciplines and manage priorities across multiple concurrent project
