As the operator of Yarra Trams, we bring our international expertise to Melbourne to ensure we deliver safer, more reliable passenger services and performance, while increasing the value of the tram network for Melburnians and the thousands of visitors to our city every day.
To support this, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Manager to manage a program of infrastructure projects to transform the tram network.
 

What the role entails
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager to deliver all agreed projects and programs as per our Franchise Agreement with Department of Transport (DOT).
Reporting to the Program Director, Network Projects, the role involves: 

  • Providing a holistic focus on achieving project outcomes while ensuring successful delivery in terms of safety, cost, schedule, quality, and with minimal disruption to operations and the community;
  • Leading a high-performance culture and engaging in the professional development of team members; 
  • Delivering excellence in commercial outcomes, including through project arrangements set with DOT and with contractors and suppliers, ensuring relevant financial targets are met;
  • Representing Yarra Trams’ interests in negotiation with public authorities and other major stakeholders to ensure infrastructure and operational requirements are satisfied;
  • Monitoring projects to ensure all comply with relevant legislation, legal requirements, safe working procedures and ethical standards, including all Yarra Trams Systems, Policies and Standards.

 

What you will need for this role
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:

  • A Degree in either Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with admittance to Institute of Engineers Australia or a Degree in Project Management with accreditation from Australian Institute of Project Management;
  • High level of project management knowledge, with a demonstrated track record of effective and efficient project delivery using best practice project management methodologies. An accredited member of the AIPM or equivalent;
  • Demonstrable ability to lead complex stakeholder consultation, including with internal functional areas of the business, as well as external agencies such as Councils, Traders Associations, Service Authorities and State Government entities;
  • Managing and coaching a team of Project Managers to deliver a program of high risk, high value projects using best practice project management methodologies;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contracts and contracting arrangements within the private and public sector;
  • Proven experience in tender bid evaluation and selection processes;
  • Strong communication to deal effectively internally and externally at the executive level;
  • Availability to be on call 24/7 and undertake works out of hours and weekend as dictated by projects.
