Traction Line Worker

About this opportunity
We are looking for an inspiring leader who is passionate about quality workmanship, safety and being a team player. Reporting to the Team Manger Overhead a typical week in this role might look like/this role involves:

  • Perform all overhead maintenance tasks ensuring they are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with Yarra Trams business objectives. 
  • Perform all works relevant to training and authorisation 
  • Provide reports on overhead maintenance and ensure documentation and data is clear & accurate. 
  • Participate in actions to prevent injury to overhead staff and in this regard, minimize the Long- Term Injury Frequency Rate. 
  • Ensure the appropriate material & equipment is available, and tools & equipment are inspected, tested, maintained, and replaced as required in accordance with procedures. 
  • Ensure tram traction overhead network is maintained in a timely, efficient & cost- effective manner. 
  • Undertake fault investigation & analysis of Overhead defects as instructed. 
  • Provide support to Yarra Trams overhead team, contractors, and stakeholders. 
  • Report on Tram Overhead maintenance activities, projects, and project milestones. 
  • Ensure compliance with Electrical infrastructure safety rules. 


About you
Ideally you will have:

  • Qualified Cert 3 Traction Lineworker or Cert 3 Distribution Licensed Lineworker. 
  • Possess a high degree of skill in fault diagnosis of the tram overhead network. 
  • A strong background in the maintenance and construction of overhead traction network 
  • Understanding of the relevant Acts, regulations and standards that impact upon a project including OH&S, Rail Safety Accreditation, etc. 
  • Availability and willingness to work shift work (continuous rotating shifts and permanent night shifts), including weekends and Public Holidays, including reasonable overtime for planned works or emergencies.
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License and agree to obtain Heavy Rigid
