About this opportunity

We are looking for an inspiring leader who is passionate about building great infrastructure to assist all Melbournians to get around.   Reporting to the Program Director, Network Projects a typical week in this role might look like:

  • Offering excellence in project leadership, continuously building the capability of the team, and demonstrating Yarra Trams’ values, including Zero Harm and Think Like a Passenger;
  • Managing a program of infrastructure projects to transform the tram network, including enhancing its safety, efficiency, accessibility and passenger experience; and
  • Working collaboratively across Yarra Trams’ business units, with the Department of Transport (DOT) and with other stakeholders.


About you

Ideally you will have:

  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with admittance to Institute of the Engineers Australia; or 
  • Degree in Project Management with accreditation from the Australian Institute of Project Management 
  • Experience in managing and developing a project delivery capability; 
  • Experience in a senior management position; 
  • Able to manage and coach a team of Project Managers to deliver a program of high risk, high value projects using best practice project management methodologies;
  • Confident and flexible to accept, embrace and initiate change and work under pressure and in a rapidly changing project environment; 
  • Ability to inspire support and empower others to achieve team goals using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior management of functional areas of the business to develop, design and deliver major projects;
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial, with ability to review and improve project processes and achieve cost savings; 
  • Applied knowledge of contracts and contracting arrangements within the private and public sector;
  • Experience in tender bid evaluation and selection processes;
  • Strong financial and budget management skills;
  • When projects are in delivery, be available on call 24/7 and undertake work out of hours and weekends.
