Data Engineer

About this opportunity


We are looking for an inspiring leader who is passionate about managing large databases, transforming them into data marts.  Reporting to the Team Manager, Data and Integration, a typical week in this role might look like/this role involves:

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Ingest, transform, and deploy large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing DMP for greater scalability, performance etc.
  • Coordinate service requests as assigned from the Service Management process
  • Undertake incident and problem management as assigned


About you


Ideally you will have:

  • Business intelligence skills to conceptualise and assist the business in understanding the data available and how the data can be analysed and interpreted to produce business value
  • Experience in building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets in MS Azure.
  • Systems data modelling, architecture and design skills
  • Expert in Azure Data Lake, data factory, data marts and Erwin data modelling tool
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets 
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to ensure effective communication with all levels of the business
