Planner Rolling Stock

What You’ll Do:
Plan, adjust, and oversee the short, medium and long-term Rolling Stock maintenance.
This includes developing the maintenance plan in accordance with the Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP) and coordinating tram maintenance across all depots and workshops, ensuring seamless operations in a 24/7 environment under the MR5 Rolling Stock Maintenance Model.

By gathering and analysing data on operational needs, depot resources (people, materials, infrastructure), and asset downtime to create a well-structured, optimized maintenance plan.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning
- Planning fleet maintenance activities in accordance with the TMP across all depots, wheel lathes and workshop. Such activities include servicing, preventative, corrective, reactive and heavy maintenance.
- Assess depot capacity and allocate workloads efficiently.
- Balance schedules to maximize fleet availability.
- Forecast future maintenance requirements
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
- Distribute maintenance plans to stakeholders within set timeframes.
Monitoring & Adjustments
- Measure and report compliance to maintenance plan and adjust as needed.
- Prioritize urgent repairs and develop long-term solutions for recurring issues.
- Ensure necessary resources and parts are available to meet schedule demands.
- Attend daily planning meetings to track progress of planned work
Maintenance Scheduling
- Devise scheduled work orders to ensure maintenance activities are conducted in a coordinated manner.
- Liaise with Maintenance Supervisors to determine efficient scheduling.
- Provide advice and consultation on job planning, review of jobs, backlogs, weekly work schedules, resource levels and estimate task durations and work orders.
- Develop solutions to identified problems and take accountability for resolving issues.
Experience & Knowledge
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Proven planning and scheduling experience in a maintenance environment with working knowledge of fleet maintenance in a rail environment (preferred).
- Expert knowledge of planning and production processes.
- Project management discipline and/or trade qualification desirable.
- Excellent workforce management, communication and persuasive skills to deal effectively internally and externally at all levels.
- Experience with Maximo and knowledge of rail vehicle maintenance practices would be advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously when required.
- Be willing to work out of multiple locations
