To deliver on these exciting new challenges, Yarra Trams is looking for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to manage the quality and reliability of parts from suppliers. 


What the role entails
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure the supply of defect free parts and services from suppliers that may have potential to impact the delivery performance of Yarra Trams.
Reporting to the Supplier Quality and Performance Manager, the role involves:

  • Coordinating with internal stake holders to resolve quality issues and communicating issues to suppliers;
  • Following up with suppliers on issues / action items using issues and countermeasure tracking sheets;
  • Working with suppliers on corrective actions and preventative actions that will be required to eliminate the repetitions of the issue;
  • Supplier Audits (Product & Process Audits);
  • Conducting quality inspection of incoming goods received in store;
  • Organising weekly/ fortnight meetings with key supplier for warranty resolution;
  • Preparing periodic reports on delivery performance from suppliers.


What you will need for this role
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
  • 3-6 years of Quality Assurance experience, with proven capability in roles as Supplier Quality Engineer preferably in light rail industry.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in the implementation of a Quality Management Systems – ISO 9001:2015;
  • Experience in use of Maximo Asset management software within a rolling stock environment.
  • Experience in use of Power BI dashboards for monitoring, reporting progress and KPIs related to Supplier Quality function;
  • Sound understanding and experience in Supplier quality process e.g. PPAP, FAI, ITPs, NCRs, CARs, PARs, PFMEA, FMECA etc.;
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office; MRP Software -Maximo, business objects, Power BI).
  • Experience in Supplier Quality and Product audits.
