Project Manager - Essential Infra Works, NGT
At Yarra Trams, our mission is to deliver world-class transport services to our passengers. In this role, you will contribute to this goal through your input to the Next Generation Tram (NGT) Project.
The Victorian Government is investing $1.85 billion in 100 Next Generation Trams (NGT) and a new Tram Maintenance and Stabling Facility in Maidstone in Melbourne’s west.
In order to deploy the NGT onto the Yarra Trams network, some infrastructure upgrades and modifications (essential infrastructure) are required at various locations across the network.
The key accountabilities of the Project Manager – Essential Infrastructure – NGT include:
- Leading the project management activities to ensure project deliverables are achieved, to the expected standard and within the required timeframes and budget.
- Creating and maintain core project artefacts: project management plan and subordinate plans, scope documents, risk register, schedule, cost forecast and tracking tools.
- Integrating safety management and engineering change management procedures into project plans.
- Monitoring project activities to ensure all comply with relevant legislation, legal requirements, safe working procedures and ethical standards.
- Coordinating and aligning input from relevant functional areas to ensure advice and deliverables represent integrated and resolved views of Yarra Trams and DTP, utilising internal governance.
To be successful you will ideally have the following:
- Project Management and/or Engineering qualification (bach) required
- Knowledge and understanding of OHS&E legislative requirements and individual duty of care
- The ability to integrate project activities across all disciplines to manage project interdependencies
- Confidence and flexibility to accept, embrace and initiate change and work under pressure and in a rapidly changing environment with the ability to inspire support and empower others to achieve project outcomes
- An innovative mindset to be able to adapt existing processes to meet project needs
In addition you will be experienced in:
- Project management role working in a multi-functional organisation
- Engineering within the transport sector (highly desirable)
- Coordinating changes in accordance with an approved change management system
- Identifying and managing risks associated with the delivery of projects
- Tender requests, evaluations and selection processes
