About the Opportunity

At Yarra Trams, we aim to provide world-class transport services for our passengers. As the Manager, Human Resources, you will play a key role in making this happen by:

 

  • Leading and building capability within the HR Business Partnering team.
  • Enhancing the people management capabilities of our leaders.
  • Upholding and developing Yarra Trams’ culture and values.
  • Providing expert HR Business Partnering support to a dedicated client group.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnering

  • Support leaders to understand and manage the people impacts of their business strategies.
  • Help develop organisational capability and leadership for the future.
  • Identify people-related trends and provide proactive solutions to improve culture, engagement, performance, retention, and the employee experience.
  • Coach managers to handle employee matters effectively, building their capability rather than managing issues for them.
  • Uphold Yarra Trams’ values by addressing behaviours that don’t align with our standards and policies, with a strong focus on safety.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Conduct workplace investigations, including interviews, report writing, and implementing recommendations.
  • Facilitate key leadership development programs, such as workplace behaviour training and performance management sessions.
  • Lead the annual people cycle, supporting leaders throughout these processes.
  • Provide expert coaching to functional leaders on complex people issues.
  • Support business leaders with projects that have Employee Relations/Industrial Relations (ER/IR) implications.

 

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

 

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in HR generalist or Employee Relations roles.
  • Solid knowledge of assessment, recruitment, and development processes.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Expertise in employment law and the ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven track record of delivering HR solutions that align with business objectives.
